Yu Kurosaki
Yu Kurosaki is one of the most acclaimed master knifesmiths in modern Japan. From his workshop in Echizen, Fukui, a city with a deep knifemaking tradition, he creates knives that are works of art as well as precision tools.
Kurosaki is perhaps best known for his expressive surface finishes: the cosmic Fujin finish, the rippling Senko pattern and the elegant Gekko series. All are designed to catch the light and tell a story, but what matters is that beneath the surface these knives are ground to a geometry and sharpness that is truly world class.
The steels range from VG-10 to VGXEOS and SG2, all stainless powder steels that combine high hardness with good corrosion resistance. The knives usually come with oak or walnut handles that complement the dramatic blade beautifully.
