Thiers-Issard
In 1870, Pierre Thiers began an apprenticeship with someone who was known in the area around Thiers as a master of razors. Over the next 14 years, it would appear that he would gain recognition from the rest of the area's knife makers and was therefore able to open his own in 1884.
When Pierre Issard founded the French cookware company Thiers-Issard, large parts of his family were in the same industry, and he therefore used his wife's name 'Issard' to distinguish himself from the other family members.
Since then, they have produced everything from classic kitchen knives to razors and accessories for the French kitchen. Until his death in 1929, he found himself daily in the workshop, with his hands deeply buried in work. In the same year as the founding of Thiers-Issard, Pierre had a son who would later go and take over after his father's death in 1929.
He took the company further beyond the French borders and gradually won international recognition. Over the years more and more family members joined and since 1985 Thiers-Issard has been under Mr. Gilles Reynewaeter's expert management.
Even to this day, Thiers-Issard is recognized the world over and anyone who goes into shaving knows who they are.
