Sankurafuto (Suncraft in English) from Seki in Japan, makes extremely luxurious knives.
We found these knives when we visited the Ambiente fair in Frankfurt. From the first time we saw them, we were completely in love and had to know more.
The knives are not least beautiful, but also completely adventurous to work with.
They are made up of three layers - two soft outer layers and a hard core steel - SG2.
SG2 is an incredibly popular and widespread steel alloy in the knife world. It is made as powder steel, which means that all the different components of the steel are passed through a mister. It turns the metals into powder, after which it is forged back together.
This gives a better and denser structure in the steel and it therefore grinds finer and keeps the sharpness better.
