Kyocera

Ceramic Adjustable Mandolin

kr.199,00

A delicious and very light mandolin iron. Blade width: 80 mm.

The blade is adjustable in four heights: 0.5 - 1.3 - 2 - 3 mm. It can be washed in the dishwasher and a hand protector is also included.

Kyocera's patented Zirconia206® ceramic provides a blade that stays sharp more than ten times longer than a typical steel knife blade and ceramic cannot rust, so here you get a maintenance-free mandolin iron. In addition, a ceramic mandolin iron weighs only approx. half of a regular mandolin iron. Ceramic does not emit any metallic taste or smell to the food, and is easy to clean.

Zirconia206® ceramics are produced in Japan, and are made by using a ceramic called zirconium oxide, which is one of the absolute hardest - only diamond is harder. The ceramic is pulverized and placed in a mold where it is pressed at 300 tons. The knife blades are then baked in an oven at 1400°C for two days, and are now ready to be sharpened. The knife blades are sent out from Kyocera's factory and handed over to local sharpeners who master the art of equipping a knife blade with the perfect edge - this work is done by hand. Thus, Kyocera makes a ceramic knife, and they have done so since 1984.
