Laguiole en Aubrac

Laguiole (which in the local area is roughly pronounced la-jål) is not just Laguiole. Most people can recognize the iconic knives with the very special profile on the blade and the emblem with the fly "La mouche" on the back. What is perhaps less clear to many is that "Laguiole" is not a trademark. Laguiole is a village in the Aveyron area, but the name has become internationally synonymous with the well-known steak knives.

Laguiole en Aubrac is a very special workshop that is very close to us. Here, everything is manufactured in the local area, because unlike many other manufacturers, they also have their own forge and sawmill and thus do not use sub-suppliers for anything other than the raw materials that are, for good reasons, not available in the local area.

No matter what you fall in love with from Laguiole en Aubrac, you can be completely sure that it is a piece of real craftsmanship you are getting in your hands. All shafts are shaped by freehand work, all engravings are cut by hand - and it may seem surprising when the quality time and time again is absolutely top notch. We have visited several times, and it is equally charming each time to see that this kind of manual craftsmanship can still exist in the best of health.

You are also never really in doubt whether you are standing with a knife from Laguiole en Aubrac or another manufacturer, because only the best raw materials are used - and it is especially on the very fine types of wood that there are not many others that can be with.

However, Laguiole en Aubrac is much more than steak knives. They make e.g. the fantastic corkscrew, Sommelier , and then they have two particularly skilled craftsmen who make some of the most beautiful folding knives we have ever seen. It is also the legacy on which the entire Laguiole wave started, Laguiole en Aubrac prioritizes keeping alive.
