Description & specifications

Shun Kagerou is KAI's newest high-end series and a Red Dot Award 2025 winner. Kagerou, the Japanese word for the heat haze that shimmers above the flames, is reflected in the blade's pattern: the upper half is highly polished, while the 71 layers of Damascus steel wind along the edge like a veil of heat.

The 10 cm paring knife is the smallest and most precise knife in the series. It is well suited to peeling, trimming and detailed work in the hand, where control and sharpness are crucial. The blade combines flexible VG-2 steel with the hard VG-10 steel in 71 layers, giving an edge that lasts over time. The grey-black Pakkawood handle is treated with resins for optimal moisture resistance and grip.
