Sankurafuto (Suncraft in English) from Seki in Japan, makes extremely luxurious knives.
We found these knives when we visited the Ambiente fair in Frankfurt. From the first time we saw them, we were completely in love and had to know more.
The knives are not least beautiful, but also completely adventurous to work with.
This series, Black, is built from 33 layers of damascus steel which is glass blown so that it gets the matte surface. The core steel is VG-10 which is not hardened crazy hard, so it is easier to deal with.
VG-10 is an incredibly popular and widespread steel alloy in the knife world. Many have used it in their top series, and it must probably be the most widespread of the hard steel alloys. VG stands for Vanadium Gold and 'gold' in this case stands for quality.
