Description & specifications
Yamatani Industry was founded in 1979 as a wholesale company, primarily dealing in metal fishing equipment. Over the years, the company has developed and specialized in the sale and distribution of craft products – especially high-quality Japanese knives.
Today, the company is led by the second generation, President Takenori Yamatani, who continues the family legacy with a focus on both tradition and innovation.
Based in Sanjo, Niigata Prefecture, an area known as one of Japan's most important centers for blacksmithing and metalworking, Yamatani works closely with local blacksmiths and workshops to convey the best of Japanese craftsmanship - with a particular focus on knives where functionality, aesthetics and tradition go hand in hand.
These knives are forged by the renowned Sanjo forge, Yoshikane.
Yoshikane Hamono is a relatively small workshop located in Sanjo, Niigata. With over 100 years of experience, this small company has really made a name for itself, making some truly exceptional knives. With Kazuomi Yamamoto at the helm of the workshop, they make some of the best cutting knives in the game.
