The Masakage series is a collaboration between the blacksmiths in Takefu Knife Village in Echizen and the sharpener Takayuki Shibata in Hiroshima.
The blacksmith in the Shimo series is Yu Kurosaki. The 'X' Suminagashi pattern is made by a special hammer he designed. This series is called Shimo (frost) because the leaf looks like frost on a window.
